Motherboard doesn't generally play a part in it (assuming you didn't break the motherboard). When it doesn't work.there's usually a problem with either the memory or the CPU. Let ME LEAVE YOU WITH THAT!Īs someone who's been building computers since the 80's.I can say that XMP USUALLY works. Cooler master hyper 212 evo install z390 Pc#How long did you run on XMP? What stress tests did perform while running on XMP? What BIOS version were you running? What are YOUR pc specs? For a so-called expert NOT to include the parameters of their tests means one thing.you really did not test XMP profile PROPERLY or you would have included your parameters. I suspect you DID get yours to run stable.for probably one hour, so then you can report "stability" to users on this forum, lol. And since you accuse ME of NOT performing RAM configuration swapping, etc. So did I for about an hour or 2 after each of the many tweaks I've tried. Fascinating you said you got yours to run stable on XMP. Yet I have asked in other threads and this one if anyone has gotten XMP to run stable FOR A LONG PERIOD OF TIME, but yet no one other than a "moderator" has said yes. Yes I understand most come to forums for complaints, and there many, many for this z390. For you to assume that I have not done that is presumptuous and offensive. I tried ALL configurations of RAM in various slots and even bought a 2-stick matched pair which I still have(shall I post an image for you?).IT DID NOT WORK. Now you are apparently blaming the cpu, lol. You apparently missed the part where I've been through dozens of threads and tried many many many solutions. You already left me with the quote "XMP profiles are not guaranteed to work" in another thread, which is extremely helpful and "thank" you for that. It is my opinion this board is defective, but since MSI (and you) claim "XMP is not guaranteed to work" I am basically SOL. All you have offered is "XMP settings are not guaranteed to work" in response to me in another thread. I should not have to "tweak" the settings on a high end board to get XMP profile to work, yet as I have said, I have tried to be open-minded and performed many suggested settings, ALL which cause BSOD/reboot issues. My previous 3 systems ALL ran stable with compatible, listed RAM using XMP settings, but they were not MSI motherboards. Just before I answered your post my system rebooted for no reason, and this after going back to bios 1.7 from 1.9 (which is apparently not working well for MSI either). I've been building my own systems since the mid 1990's and have NEVER had this many BSOD, even with Win95/98/2k. I am NOT a happy customer after spending big $$ on this system. I purchased this board and MSI video card, and I have researched dozens of threads and tried many suggested "tweaks" to memory settings, all to no avail. It's just a simple question to others as to whether they got XMP to work, no need for you to take offense. Thank you for taking the time to help me!Įdit 1: You all solved it for me, thanks.Single kit tested, OK. I guess I'm hoping to get suggestions for a slightly thinner fan that will clip onto the same heatsink? If possible, I'd like to avoid an entirely new CPU Cooler, but I'll understand if you say that's a ridiculous notion. Cooler master hyper 212 evo install z390 series#G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 32GB (2 x 16GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3600 These sticks of RAM don't fit under the CPU COOLER: Cooler master hyper 212 evo install z390 pro#MSI Z390-A PRO LGA 1151 (300 Series) ATX Motherboard The cooler is just slightly too large and it overlapping the first RAM slot, so I won't be able to put 4 sticks of RAM in the motherboard.Ĭooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - CPU Cooler with 120mm PWM Fan I built a PC last night and I'm having a problem with the motherboard and cpu cooler. Thank you everyone for your fast responses. Solved - Taking the fan off, installing the RAM, and reinstalling the fan in the tippy-top position does provide enough room to install everything.
